When did the NBA become such a clown show?

BLM slogans plastered all over the courts
fake names on the back of jerseys
NBA officials and coaches wearing "racial justice" buttons on their shirts
everyone kneeling for The Star-Spangled Banner

Are you guys watching this carnival?

Those who lived through the eras of Bird, Magic, Jordan, Kobe etc. know what I'm talking about. Or, if you're too young to remember, watch the Jordan documentary and compare those warriors who had to fight and claw for every inch of court to these soft crybaby clowns.

Mark my word, if the NBA (and NFL) continue on this path of self-destruction, their empires will crumble.

It won't happen right away, but it WILL happen.

Don't think so?

When people stop watching, advertises will stop buying. And when advertisers stop buying, these ridiculous inflated network TV deals which have become the lifeblood of pro sports will dry up. And when that happens, NBA salaries will plummet. And so on...

This isn't pro sports, this is Sesame Street, and millions of disgusted fans will have the last laugh.

I personally don't get those who can watch an NBA game, and then watch a high level college basketball game with an engaged student section, and then come away thinking that the former is the better product.

The level of basketball is higher, for sure, but the NBA product itself is terrible. Players don't play defense in the regular season until maybe a few minutes in the 4th quarter, if by chance the game is close.

Meanwhile, college basketball has 10 guys going all out 100% of the game and a lively student section that gets the adrenaline flowing. Most NBA arenas, the fans aren't even watching the game.

Add in all this social justice nonsense, and I can safely say that only complete morons are truly a fan of the NBA these days. Whether enough people will watch the NBA because they are betting on it, that remains to be seen.

Why athletics is such big money. Even those who "hate it" watch it almost every day and put their money into it.

That's the bottom line. Will people keep watching a clearly deteriorating product just because they can bet on it?

There was a time when all pro sports leagues vehemently opposed gambling on the grounds it would ruin the integrity of the game. The NBA almost kiboshed the Grizzlies in Vancouver because of that state's mickey-mouse sports lottery.

Now suddenly all these greedy leagues looking to squeeze out more revenue want a piece of the action.

How times change.

This is what happens when the players take over the league. The commissioner has given up any power he ever had. David Stern always cared about the players, but that was balanced by the fact that he was running a business. The owners are shackled by the Donald Sterling episode so do you think in today's environment anyone is going to speak up. The coaches are irrelevant and really only noticed if they happen to actually instill some discipline or try to coach up the planers (see Chicago or the new Knick coach plus you don't see any Van Gundys in the league anymore right.

Magic, Bird and Jordan once held a lot of power, but also had intelligence and a history of the game to offer. LeBron can't form a coherent sentence unless he has been scripted or rehearsed and this guy is the league leader? Players and their agents run the game today and neither cares about the fans outside of China.

I tried watching the Celtics/Nuggets I just can't get used to no fans in stands. The virtual fans are like cartoon characters. Someone was holding a baby and the person held the baby forward and you got this giant head. It looked like a monster. Another person paid to have their dog sitting in stands. It's actually a distraction. Then you have this fake generated crowd noise but meanwhile you can hear the sneakers squeaking as the players run up and down the court. Only one sports works without fans, golf. You don't get the roars but the fans are silent when a player hits the ball.
